BUILDING SELF CONFIDENCE

Below are eight confidence building exercises. Make a conscious effort to practice these steps to build your self confidence. Like learning to ride a bike, the more you practice the easier.
1. Make it a point to run for the front seat: Most people who run for the back seat, usually lack self confidence.
2. Making eye contact: The eyes are considered by many to be the most important means of nonverbal communication. Failure to make eye contact says two things. I feel weak beside you, I feel inferior to you, I’m afraid of you” or “I’m afraid if I let my eyes connect with yours, you’ll see through me.” Make your eyes work for you. Aim them at the other person’s eyes. It not only gives you confidence, it wins you confidence.
3. Develop a great body posture: Your body posture may be sending negative non-verbal communication about yourself. Body language may signal either weakness of dominance and status. Dominant posture can be saying two things about one I have personal power or that I am fearless.
4. Walk faster: Throw your shoulders back, lift up your head, move ahead just a little faster and feel your self confidence grow.
5. Practice speaking up: The more you speak up, the more you add to your confidence, and the easier it is to speak up the next time.
6. Smile big: A big smile gives you confidence. A big smile beats fear, rolls away worry, and defeat any fear of rejections.
7. Have a firm hand shake: Anytime you’re introduced to someone, initiate a handshake. When a woman volunteers a firm, friendly handshake, it is usually interpreted as a sign of professionalism, assertiveness, and strength.
8. Let your clothes speak for you: Your appearance tells people a deal about your attitude or how you really feel about yourself. Wear clothes that send the signal that you are confident and know exactly where you are going.
